Spanish Honor Society

Club Description: The Spanish Honor Society (Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica) is a club for students who are enrolled in Spanish classes of level three or above. The purpose of the honor society is to recognize the high achievement of high school students in the Spanish language and to promote a continuing interest in Hispanic cultures and studies. The group was established in 1953 in the United States and is sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese. This organization recognizes students with outstanding abilities in Spanish and provides them with an opportunity to interact, exchange cultures, and participate in community service projects. The Chapter is called " Chac Mool" and was established in 2007.

Requirements for Eligibility:
Be a senior or a junior and must be enrolled, or have been, in an honors Spanish class (Level 3 or above) and/or be in the IB academy. Student must maintain or had obtained a 3.5 GPA in the Spanish class.
1. Student must maintain a 3.5 overall GPA unweighed and have an A in conduct.
2. Student must have good club attendance to enjoy the benefits of being in the honor society. Three unexcused absences from club meetings could result in dismissal.
3. Student must accumulate at least 10 points during the school year to remain an active member and/or receive your honor cord (Seniors).
4 Student must be willing to participate in fundraising activities when organized by the club. 
5 Student must pay their club dues ($25.00 in OSP) after notification of acceptance to SHS. The club dues will be a one time/year. This payment includes the club T-shirt and the cord for seniors.  
6. After you receive an email certifying your membership, log into OSP under Spanish Honor Society.
